This is a new Miltonia hybrid, mericlone derived from a mutation of Milt. Breathless ‘Hilo Galaxy’ JC/AOS. However, the clone is not stable, resulting in significant variation from plant to plant. Phalaenopsis Pinlong Cheris is a registered hybrid within the Phalaenopsis genus. It was registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in 1999 by Today Trop. Nurs. Its parentage is a cross between Phalaenopsis Rothschildiana and Phalaenopsis Timothy Christopher.
The primary species influencing this hybrid, listed in order of genetic contribution, are:
Phalaenopsis amabilis (25%)
Phalaenopsis schilleriana (25%) – subgenus Phalaenopsis, section Phalaenopsis
Phalaenopsis aphrodite (25%) – subgenus Phalaenopsis, section Phalaenopsis
